pumpkin scrubbing

Pumpkin covered in muck and mud?  No problem - just scrub, scrub, scrub!

The weather here has been gorgeous lately -
perfect for scrubbing pumpkins al fresco!

  1. Pour warm water from a pitcher into a small dish.
  2. Scrub, scrub, scrub!
  3. Use the dishcloth to wipe up spills and dry your pumpkin.

The next day we cut our pumpkin open,
and cleaned out the seeds and pulp.

I steamed the flesh and we used it to bake pumpkin bars.
It was fun to do so many things with one little orange squash!

(The bad news?  It looks a lot better than it tastes!  If you want a yummy pumpkin recipe,
try this Ultimate Pumpkin Bread Recipe - we made it a couple weeks ago, and it was amazing!)

Happy weekend!

  1. Yay for scrubbing! Sixtine loves to scrub vegetables too (potatoes and carrots!). I am sure Elise had a great time - how did she like cleaning the seeds and pulp out? Sixtine didn't like it at all! She said dirty and that was the end of it! How have you been? I typed "Anne" in my search bar instead of itty bitty love. Haha

    1. Oh, I love that! I've been good - the weather here is really beautiful, and it makes me feel happy and inspired. I've been thinking about you, and hoping that you're getting lots of this good sunshine over in PEI. Elise has been a fan of ooey gooey things so far - although she put more of the seeds into her mouth than into the bowl. I've thinking about carving a big pumpkin with her this weekend, and really letting her dig around in the pumpkin "guts!"

    1. Oh, it is such a yummy recipe! I instantly regretted not making it with our pumpkin. My husband doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, so I ate both loaves last time pretty much all by myself, too. ;)
