maybe...

Maybe these plants will survive... are there any house plant aficionados out there? I have to admit, I've been terrarium-obsessed these past few weeks... ever since I read this post on Design*Sponge and this post on Urban Organica.

Didn't we make these as kids?
I've been falling asleep at night to fantasies of
miniature gardens tucked here and there in my home.

I put pea gravel in the bottom of the dishes,
but is that enough drainage for a plant?

Oh! Don't tell me! (Unless it's good news...)

  1. Looks great to me! Since you are using succulents, they won't need much water anyway. I like the idea of "secret gardens"!

  2. These are beautiful. My girls LOVE succulents, my oldest loves to start new plants from her "mother" jade. They would love to made a similar garden.

  3. If there are no drainage holes in the bottom of the containers you need to be super careful that you don't over water the plants. Especially succulents. They don't need a lot of water and if they sit with their feet wet they won't be happy. But if you let them dry out between waterings they should be fine. And they look great! I love the little creatures.

  4. For the past week, I have been looking at moss gardens on Etsy. I love your mini gardens!

  5. I'm going to try to hold myself back with the watering - less is more! I think kids would love tending a mini garden - they definitely spark one's imagination. Succulents have such nice texture, but I want to try a moss/fern one next. I've been checking out the ones on etsy, too... :)
