"For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies...
{it is} a parent's willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate." President Obama

President Obama is a man after my little ol' Montessori heart. That was my favorite part of his whole inaugural speech. Believe me, the entire thing brought tears to my eyes, but YES! Thank you! Finally, a leader who makes reference to the importance of nurturing little children. I turned to hubs and said, "Can you imagine what the world would be like if all children were treated with respect, dignity, and fairness by the adults in their lives?"

What if every little child learned how to be tolerant of those different from himself? Would we be in this mess at all?
Hmmm... NO!
If only they could all just go to Montessori school...
Maria Montessori's philosophy of education is so powerful to our culture because, academics aside, peace has and always will be at its heart.

  1. Yes. This part spoke to me as well. Your words on it are perfect. Respect, dignity and fairness. I want that for my family and myself.

Does this include murdering them before they are born, because that's exactly what your president has in mind...

  4. Yikes! Abortion! Didn't mean to go there, BUT, how do you justify the lives of all the men and women who have died in Iraq? In my opinion, there's no perfect answer... but it makes me ponder... if, starting right now, the world's children were all treated with dignity, respect, and fairness by the adults in their lives, would there even be a need, let's say 50 years from now, for abortion or war? Would it be possible that these children would grow up to be adults who treated each other and themselves with respect, dignity, and fairness, too?

What I can say, is that I firmly believe no problem can be solved in isolation - it's all intertwined in a pattern. That's one of the main reasons why I support President Obama - he seems to be a pattern-solver, and, in my opinion, he has a solid grasp on the big picture.
