artsy fartsy: part 2

2 sculpture lessons:

"the leaning tower of peanuts"

Just wet the ends of biodegradable packing peanuts with a damp sponge. When moistened, they stick together, and you can build all kinds of unique structures.

Too tempting for school?

You would think, but the children have such strong self-control at school! They have been busily building 3-D formations with marshmallows and toothpicks , and I haven't seen a single marshmallow get eaten on the school premesis - although I wouldn't hold it against anyone for having just a little taste! :)

  1. awesome! the toy shop here sells the peanuts for crafting but they are dyed, and when the get wet the dye runs, which annoys me, as it's bassed on "easy no mess no fuss", I had no idea the packaging would stick! YAY!

  2. I keep promising myself we are going to do the marshmallow thing, one of these days. And eating wouldn't be a problem - Esme took a teeny bite of one and wants nothing more to do with them. She is SO picky.

  3. Love that you posted about the pakcing peanuts! I've been saving some from a recent package arrival just for this purpose with the kids. Need to get on that one!

  4. Your students are made of sterner stuff than my little just-turned-2-year-old! lol She doesn't eat the candy or marshmallows that I put out for school, but she does sneak a lick or two when she thinks I'm not watching. :)
